September Schedule Hypothetical

Postby regis » Wed Aug 30, 2006 11:02 am

We all agree for the most part that the Mustangs should be 3-1 after four games.

Would you rather:

1) Beat Tech and lose one of the NTSU, SHSU, or ASU?

2) Lose to Tech and beat the ever loving snot out of the mean birds and company?

Part of me would love to stick it to the sand ags, but I couldn't possibly imagine the fall from the highest high of a win at ttu to the lowest low of losing to one of the chumps, especially losing to those who think this is the biggest game since Matt Simon's parking lot.

Thoughts?

I would love a win over the Dirt Rangers, but not at the expense of the next three games. I think a loss to UNT, SHSU or ASU would set us back more than a win over TT would move us ahead.

In fact, the one thing I would be scared of is that if we win the Tech game, being flat the next week and dealing with that "we beat a ranked team" hangover.

The question is whether its better to lose one early, so we don't get a swelled head. As loss hurts no matter when it happens. Also notice that we managed to lose two of the games we were actually favored to win last year. Hopefully we've learned from that and we'll won't look past anyone because we're not good enough to do that.

3-1 is good no matter how you slice it. Assuming you mean that you would only lose one of those games, I think a win over Tech would do more for the team than a loss against one of the other three could hurt.

You know 3-1 will feel good no matter what... but should we beat Tech and are sitting at 3-1 going into conference play, there will be a bitter regret that we didn't go 4-0.

A win AT Tech would be huge, true. Mentally, I have already made peace with the fact that Tech is a probable loss and I should be (and am) ready to move on. A loss against any of those other teams would sting a whole lot more than a loss to Tech.

With that being said, and I have said this a number of times this off season, SHOULD we beat Tech, I see a strong possibility of laying an egg at NT. But anyway you slice it, we should be 3-1 going into comference.

The only team out of the next three Tech that I could even think of losing to would be Arkansas State.

If we beat Tech and lose to either UNT or SHSU...well...it'll be a lot worse than losing to Tech IMO.

Then let me be the first to tell you that Ark State's starting RB tore his ACL during practice.

I think I read that on a thread on UNT's boards.

How about we win the games we're supposed to win? Upsetting Tech would be a huge step for this program but loosing to Arkansas State would be way more embarrassing than loosing to Tech
