Seriously

OK Pony Fans, set me straight. I am an out of town, somewhat unplugged super-fan alum of the Mustangs. Do we stand a chance against the "Git yer Guns Up" Raiders? The spread seems awfully wide considering how we played toward the end of last season. Is there any hope to win this outright? Honestly?
By the way, the last time I asked this question was before last year's Froggie game.
Go Ponies!!

It will be tough for us to win. Lubbock is a terrible place to be the visiting team. Leach will not let up. This is the Raiders first game of the season and they will be ready to get nasty in a game that counts. Every BCS team knows that they have a chance to go all the way until they lose that first game. Leach has told them they can't let up against anyone. He'll have them thinking that they're playing the Pony Express Mustangs on Saturday. I'm sure he's told their DLs that DeMyron Martin is the reincarnation of Eric Dickerson. That Wallis is the reincarnation of Chuck Hixson. And that Bobby Chase is the reincarnation of Raymond Berry. They'll be ready, so we will have to execute well and not take anything for granted.

Who's going to lose?
Tech historically starts off the season slow. Lost their last game last year.
Bennett's teams historically lose in September. Won their last game last year.

Wallis hasn't played here in years.
Of course, Justin Willis and Chuck Hixson could be twins.

You've had far fewer disappointments to beat the hope out of you. I think the winless season did it for me.

If we were at home there would be a shot. In Lubbock - no way. It is the black hole for teams far better then us.
i think we will have a good year, but the best we can hope for here is no injuries and the start of a long winning streak right after this game.
I do think we will score some points - I will predict 35-17 Tech

seriously...anything CAN happen. The Chippewahs should have beaten BC last night. Who expected that? This could be an exciting game...especially if you have significant money on either team to cover the spread

I think most on this board are seriously overrating SMU's ability to have a consistent running game against Tech which has 3 very strong experienced LB and whose strength is the front 7. I think they will dominate SMU's offensive line and DeMyron will have to get what he can-wouldn't be surprised if he made a few runs but I bet you'll be shaking your heads about Tech's domination of SMU's running game just as we we were in College Station last year.

I would be surprised if Martin has a big day. Tech knows they can kill two birds with one stone. That is loading the box, they know about Martin, and coupled with a qb that hasn't take a snap, they want to force us to throw. I would expect a lot of blitzes as well, that would fill running lanes, and try to force Justin into making bad decisions. But I am excited about going, I feel like a kid on Christmas Eve!
