SMU's Mapps moving up as change-of-pace guy

UNIVERSITY PARK – Reserve redshirt freshman running back James Mapps took snaps with the second-team offense in 11-on-11 drills Wednesday. Mapps, one of the bright spots of training camp the last two seasons, carried five times for 24 yards against Texas Tech. He previously worked with the third-team offense.

Where does that put J Fitz?

Probably with the vaunted third team.

I have no problem with Mapps moving up, I guess he's earned it already, but Fitzgerald certainly didn't do anything to deserve being demoted (if this is whats happening). IMO he was our best back in Lubbock. I think what's more likely is Mapps and Fitzgerald splitting the backup duties instead of one of them taking it over
