What are the chances we'll see any of Bomar against SHSU? He is nowhere near the top of their depth chart but gotta figure soon as he learns their schemes he's far and away in a difft league than the guys they got. DOnt wanna pull a CU and lose to a 1AA team.

Glad you asked, braginator. First, Bomar must be re-instated by the NCAA. To my knowledge, that has not yet happened. If it happens this year, I don't expect to see Bomar in a Bearkat uniform until the first Southland Conference game against Northwestern State in Natchitoches, LA on Oct. 7th. (Sideline: former SMU QB Rickey Joe Meeks is now the QB for the NWSU Demons; former Mustang Richuel Massey is a TB for the Demons) No way will head coach Todd Whitten risk injury to Bomar before then. Not only do the 'Kats play S.M.U. but they also play the University of Texas on Sept. 30 in Austin. If the NCAA does not re-instate him for this year, he'll have awhile to learn the system at SHSU and be ready to lead the 'Kats in 2007.

The Mustangs will most likely see Wade Pate (6'2", 219, Jr., Arp, TX) and Phillip Daugherty (transfer from Texas Tech, 6'3", 222, Jr., Bridgeport, TX) as the alternating QBs for the Sam Houston State Bearkats on Sept. 16.

He is on the roster with full bio. Are we sure he is not already eligible to play?

During this week's video teleconference, head coach Todd Whitten closes by talking about Bomar, saying the Kats were still in camp and getting him familiar. The Kats have completed the filing associated with applying for reinstatement. Said Rhett can not get as many reps because it is game week.
