Bad news for CUSA, but possibly good news for SMUs schedule

Anyone who might have been worried that ECU & Marshall were going to be much improved might want to relax a little. Marshall is currently losing to I-AA Hofstra 14-0, and Navy (who beat ECU last week) barely squeaked past I-AA UMass 21-20.

Our schedule may be even easier than was initially thought.

Then again, D2 Chadron State is beating Montana State 28-10. So does that mean Chadron would beat Colorado?

I am encouraged by Marshall and ECU's early season plight, however.

Hoping for easy sisters in CUSA is not a good idea. We want a strong conference, which we need to win. I want to win games against quality programs. Otherwise, what is the point.

I would prefer to beat good teams as well, but I also realize we are not at the point where we can beat good teams. We have problems with mediocre teams. I would think though that the shot at an easy schedule that would give us ample opportunity to win games, and potentially go to a bowl would be better for recruiting at the moment then continually getting killed by good teams, or mediocre teams that no one has ever heard of.

Anyway, it looked like Marshall just needed a few minutes to get warmed up. They are now up 20-14.

I know that UMass is ranked in the top 25 I-AA schools and I think Hofstra might be, too. Thos are pretty good football teams and if you schedule them, you'd better come ready to play. Ask TCU about Northwestern State a couple of years ago

Like I said, it looked like you just needed to get warmed up. Hopefully the same can be said for us.
