Since when is the pistol part of Burns offense?

I hate that stupid Pistol formation. The way that we ran it we might as well have lined up in an I formation. It is remotely unique but I will gladly let Nevada keep the stupid thing. I thought we were a spread team and when we actually ran the spread we seemed to at least move the ball half way decently.
