Observations

Postby M Street Stang » Sun Sep 10, 2006 8:50 am

I started to write this last night but was too p*ssed off, so I thought I would wait until this morning.

1) Our passing plays take forever to develop. Willis is a QB who needs to develop rhythm with short, quick passes.

2) Why don't we get the ball into Ryan Kennedy's hands 2-3 times per game?

3) Does Chris Phillips play for us?

4) Keep it simple on offense. Reminder memo to coaches: Our best players are Martin, Fitzgerald, Chase, and Kennedy.

5) The deep ball was open all night long against our defense. NT is terrible on offense. Any decent team will consistently lob the ball over the top at will against us. I know we loaded the box with 8 to bottle up Jamario Thomas, but that didn't exactly work, did it?

6) Willis needs to stay in the pocket and throw some balls instead of taking off every time.

7) We probably need 7 and for sure 8 wins to go to a bowl. I do not see any way we win 7 games in our next 10.

8) In my opinion, last night's game was decided on the blocked punt. That set the tone for the game and put us in a hole early. Morstead has a terrible habit of stepping out to his right to kick the ball. The block came from that side. If he does not correct this, we will see more blocked punts from his right side, mark my words.

Yeah, punters usually just have bad perception. Stepping to your right can't mean trying to aim to the right...where about 4 of his punts went last night.

here are my observations, as I unfortunately made the drive to Denton...

First and foremost, Bennett/Burns DONT believe in this offense, and the players running it. That is the only conclusion I can think of, when only twice in the first half did we throw the ball downfield. One time, Bobby Chase caught it for a nice gain, the other, Emmanuel Sanders dropped a large gain. Both times, Slater threw the balls. It's as if Bennett has absolutely no confidence in Justin Willis's throwing ability

Why only throw left and right? It was so frustrating to watch, I can't put this into words. Yeah, we gained 5-8 here and there, but then UNT caught on and we would lose yardage. We were playing UNT for [deleted]'s sake, not UT. THROW DOWN THE FIELD!!!!

The UNT offense was so predictable, yet we couldnt stop it. Either they were going to run it, or throw it to Johnny Quinn, he was the only one catching passes, yet we couldnt stop him. This game was a joke, an absolute embarassment.

The lone bright spots for me were Wilton McCray on defense, and Emmanuel Sanders on offense, even though he dropped a big pass. Emmanuel is gonna turn into what I thought Columbus Givens would be, a good 3rd/slasher wide receiver.

Other than that, this game, especially the coaching, was an absolute JOKE
