I have thought about it now........and yes, I was in Houston in 1989, but that team had an excuse, this one doesn't. FOR ME, THIS IS THE MOST HUMILIATING LOSS IN MY 36 YEARS OF BEING AN SMU FAN!!!!

I am off to church now, and I will pray that I am released from this plague of being a die hard SMU fan. Oh please dear Lord,,,,release me from this bondage that has been put upon me and my family. I am on my knee's, begging, pleading, that you will let me go, and live in peace. Amen.

ps.
unless you see fit to send us a new Savior

When the new Savior comes I hope to have a seat in His stadium which I understand is even better than Ford. Plus we will get to see Doak, Kyle et al.

nope...

most humiliating was the loss to Rice in 1977 in the Cotton Bowl...all 5,000 fans in that hot, cavernous place. This one is close however...especially with all the buildup of expectations...in '77 there were few expectations.

long live

This is definitely the most humiliating loss where I was in attendance. I started in the 70s, was in school in the 80s and have attended 3-6 games a year since then. This was by far the hardest loss to swallow. Even when something went well, I just knew something bad was about to happen - such is life with this team as of late.

As I drove home, I tried to think of the right words to express my feelings as an SMU fan. The Cure's lyrics seemed appropriate:

I wish I could just stop
I know another moment will break my heart
Too many tears
Too many times
Too many years I've cried for you
It's always the same
Wake up in the rain
Head in pain
Hung in shame
A different name
Same old game
Love in vain
And miles and miles and miles and miles and miles away from home again...
