SMU vs NT
Posted: Sun Sep 10, 2006 4:21 pmI want to thank your fans, football team, band, etc for coming to Denton to play North Texas. I was impressed with each of the above and was wondering if we were going to stop your 5 yards or so every run or pass.
First downs were almost even SMU 14, NT 15
Rushs yd SMU 111 NT 168 (most in the 4th Qtr for NT..don't forgot NT Jamario Thomas was the national rushing champion 2 years ago, and you'll pretty well tied him down the first part of the game by using 8 players in the box on your defense...until we forced you to widen your defense by our passing.
Passing SMU 159 to NT's 145
We were ahead in return yards SMU 6, NT 32,
We were ahead in punting average SMU 31.6 yds NT 40.4 yds
You were ahead in penalty yardage SMU 77 NT 50
NT was way ahead in time of possession 38.41 to your 21.19
Don't give up on your team or your coach. Remember our coach has been at NT going into his 9th year and still doesn't have an overall winning record...of course if you didn't consider the times we played UT, Oklahoma, LSU in body bag games during that time his record would be much better. Of course we have been to bowl games 4 of the last 5 years which gives our time so much more practice time for newer players than staying home.
This game was decided by less than 10 plays.
