Sam Houston's QB Situation

Starting QB Wade Pate suffered a separated shoulder (non-throwing side) in the Bearkats' 41-3 victory over Arkansas - Monticello yesterday. Doubtful he'll be in uniform this weekend against the Mustangs. Here are the backup QBs who the Mustangs will probably see in action:


16 PHILLIP DAUGHERTY

Bridgeport / Bridgeport HS
Kinesiology major

Transfer from Texas Tech. 2005 -- threw a touchdown pass in preseason scrimmage the morning after arriving in Huntsville from Lubbock ... ranked fourth in the Southland Conference with 1,196 yards passing ... best game was 28 of 45 for 261 yards and two TD passes at McNeese ... also threw for 257 yards (SFA), 254 (NW St.), 172 (Nicholls), and 157 (Texas Tech). 2004 -- third team backup quarterback for Texas Tech Red Raiders. 2003 -- redshirt. High school -- Texas Class 3A “Player of the Year,” All-State, and All-District 7-3A for Coach Danny Henson ... set Texas Class 3A record with 10,136 career passing yards ... 216 of 375 for 3,277 yards and 34 TDs his senior season

Last we heard, Pate plans on playing next game. Separation not as bad as previously thought.

Yes. (Thanks, 89) Noah Allen is no longer on the SHSU team. He's been declared 'academically ineligible'.

Sorry if you didn't want to know more about the SHSU team, brstang. I thought it might interest folks.
