Call To All "True" SMU Fans

Ok, sometimes I think I have multiple personalities when it comes to SMU this season. Saturday night I was calling for a fire. Reflecting all week this week this is where I stand and all SMU fans should stand. Go to the game this weekend. Yell, Scream and We can Win. After this week we stand 1-2 hopefully. Back at home next weekend and we can beat Arkansas St. We are 2-2. Then it's a whole new season. We go into a Tulane game we have a chance in next. Give this team one more chance before we throw in the towel. Stranger things can happen.

On the other side: if we lose ...its time to go find a new coach.

My biggest fear we start off slow....Bennett stays and we pull of a streak at the end of the season and momentum tells us things are turning around when we really find ourselves in the same position as last year.

Let me hear your thoughts.....

We went through the late-season surges with Cavan and every time our hopes were dashed the next season.

If you think the loss againist North Texas was bad, wait until you see us lose to Sam Houston State (if we do/when we do). This board will be about 20 times more negative than it was.

I was just thinking about this weekend and thinking about last year. Last year we won a game early on in the season that nobody thought we were going to win. That win was said to be turning point for SMU and everybody's hopes were high. Throughout the season, we did okay...not great, just ok. That game was a turning point for tcu though. They turned around and went undefeated. Maybe it was a waking call or maybe the SMU game was just a fluke like they ended up saying. I would prefer the "waking call" explanation. SMU wanted the game more. Before the season, tcu was looking at the game as a W.

I see similarities between this and UNT. At the beginning of the season, we were expecting a W. While we don't have the first win over a Big XII team, maybe that game was a turning point...not for UNT, but for us. I'm hoping that the last game was a waking call for our players and coaches. While I haven't been the most positive person since our loss last week, I'm ready to cheer on the Mustangs to a win and I'm ready for more.

8) Putting on my shades for this sunshine moment.

The Bus and friends will be on the Boulevard and at the game.

Arkpony, Mrydel and their wives ( that's a first ) will be there along with the Brandon Bonds family. You know the all knowing XTC will be talking it up and fun will be had by all.

Dogs, sausage and other cold snacks this time. It's too hot to really eat big.
Good drinks and a few jello shots.!!!!

Go Players
Go Mustangs
Go Coaches

As i arrived early last week at the unt game was walking to the stadium and here comes police cars escorting buses. They stop buy there tailgate area. people lined up everywhere, here comes the band the cheerleaders through the hundreds that formed leading to the stadium and behind them is the team. These kinds of things go on at all the places we play.As i watched this i thought to myself this is unt doing this not some big university. As hard as these young men work its never happened at smu. this saturday at 4:35 [approx] as usual the team and coaches will walk from the chapel to the stadium, and as normal there will be the same 25 people cheering for them.Just a thought that mabey once things could be different, mabey some students and or fans might actually show up.Save all the remarks about win and they will. I still believe in this team and still believe they will turn it around this year.and can promise you they wont quit.

Good call. Let's get a LOT of PonyFans lined up there. Bring your beer down there with you if you have to, but let's see the south end of the Boulevard loaded up with PonyFans, and line up to applaud these guys.
See you there.

If/When that happens, I will be on this board when I get back from Dallas late Sunday night...and I hope to read that Bennett had already been fired.

I have thought you were a little overboard with some of your posts earlier this week (my opinion), but I truly am glad you are going to the game. Opinions are always welcome but fans are always necessary. Cheer loud and give them a chance to win back your loyalty and if not you still have time to change your allegience.
