This doesn't surprise me. Arky State has beaten Army (which should have beaten A$M) and played a decent game against OSU. We have yet to prove we can beat a DI-A team. Arky State also wants to prove to the world they are for real and that they can beat anyone that NTSU can beat. Our players better be ready Sat night.

With ASU's D I am not sure I would be taking the over on that line.
And yes, we had better be ready.

Arkansas State is coming here after an off-week.
Houston's going to visit a very hacked-off (and perhaps desperate) Miami Hurricanes team after UM was drilled by Louisville and gets a week off.
I don't think for a minute that Arkansas State is a push-over, or that we're guaranteed a win, but I sure wouldn't want to be Houston right now.

As a Houston grad, things are pretty good right now. We're 3-0 and hope to face Ok State in a sold out venue. If we take care of OSU -- a tall order -- we'll prepare for the next game in Miami. You couldn't find anyone who thought UM was a win at the beginning of the year, so expectations for that game won't be any different now.

OSU hammered us. They are for real.
I agree with the UNT comment though......we don't want to lose to someone they beat, no matter the site.

I agree we need to be pumped up and ready or we could lose this one. I feared this one early on, more than the UNT game. The good news is that I think our team is not going to come out flat like they did against UNT. I think they know that they have to win this game and have no margin of error anymore this year.

From stAte's perspective a key will be how we respond on the road.
We have been very good in Indian Stadium of late. For 2005 and 2006 to date we are 6-0 on campus and have not given up a touchdown in the last 3 games (FAU, Troy and Army).
Away from Indian Stadium we are 1-7.
Some of that is related to quality of the opponents. The away games include Missouri, Ok State (twice), and Southern Miss. We lost to Army badly at West Point in November 2005 and the handled them 3 weeks ago at home.
It will also be interesting for us to compare quality of athletes with a C-USA school. OSU was much better than us at most positions. Much more so than USM in the bowl game. If our guys respond on the road, I think it will be a very competitive game. But we don't always do that.

qualify that...Army had the opportunity to beat A&M, but did not.
As much, Fran should have punted from their own 31 instead of going for it on 4th down.
Then, Army's slow [deleted] offense probably wouldn't have gotten to 3rd and goal on the 2 yard line.

ASU has played some very bad football on the road the past few years. Statistically we match up well with SMU but road games make me nervous and will until I see some more consistent play on the road.

The only team in America that has played an
easier non-conference schedule than the Aggies is the Aggies of Oklahoma.
OSU
Missouri State (1-aa) at home
at Ark State
Florida Atlantic (barely 1-a) at home
Aggie
Citadel (1-aa) at home
U-La-La at home
Army at home (San Antonio,
home game for Army)

I'd feel much safer playing Ark-Pine Bluff

A question for you people that keep up with the spread. In Bennett's era, what teams have we lost to, that we were favored to win? I can think of a few, UTEP in the 0-12 season, Tulane last year? and NTS.
