Ponyfans Members,

I have become more active of late as the posts have lacked ALL substance. The attack on geography is what always does the South in (although Arkansas did for the record send more to the other side).

How about we promise for every completely non-related sports banter, we add something to the discussion.

Here is my first stab.

ARK State Fans -

1. Most of us know you went to a bowl last year (something we have not done since the 80's). Who did you all lose from that team.

2. Looks like your running game is pretty good. Details?

3. What happened with OSU game you all just recently played?

Other stAte fans will be able to help me expand on this, but I'll get it started.

1) Biggest loss is our lost our starting QB and RB's. The QB position was the largest loss because of our depth with good RB's.

2) We have quality and depth at our RB position. Reggie Arnold, 220 with 4.4 is our starter and did very well against Army, but OSU was too much for us.
Also, another back that will be cleared to play is Wilkerson. Very small, but very quick.

3) OSU beat us at every position.

Here's Reggie Arnold. If you can stop him and force us to pass, it'll be interesting. We have young QB's who haven't proven they can throw consistently.

Sounds familiar. Sorry, but SHSU is not a good indication.

Question for Ark. St. fans,.... with your brothers the Pigs struggling this year (another blow out loss to USC and loss to Vandy last week) do you guys think you could beat the pigs this year ? Also, why don't you ever play the them ? Potential recruiting issue for them or what ?

The piggies are not our "brothers". They are evil incarnate over there. They have a policy of not playing instate schools in any sport.

Opposite of their dating policies.

No matter how bad they suck, they are in the SEC. They will get a check every year from the SEC that is roughly equal to our entire athletic budget before they sell a ticket, get a donation, or sell a sponsorship. They are guaranteed greater national TV exposure and will go to a bowl at 7-5 or maybe even 6-6 because of the multiple bowl contracts. They are assured four home games against name programs.

Despite that there are those who think that playing would harm their program and turn the world upside down if ASU won. The truth is Arkansas has historically passed on or missed on some good recruits who have gone elsewhere and been a thorn in their side (you got one of them, a QB who had great success against them). Sensibly it would be to their advantage for ASU to be a good option for Arkansas recruits. It would be better for Arkansas for them to be at ASU than joining SEC caliber recruits at Ole Miss.

Despite having rather suspect coaching at Arkansas, they have a great core of young players, they will be good again soon, especially if Nutt goes elsewhere.

If we played we wouldn't fare well most of the time but the wins sure would be fun.

UA beat Vandy.

They do not play because Frank Broyles will not allow it. There is no comaprison in abilities at this time, but could you imagine the uproar if Arkie State were to beat UA. It would be beyond description......no it's not, it would be similar to NTSU beating SMU.

They are 1-1 against Vandy of late, freakin Middle Tennessee State is 3-0 against Vandy in recent games.

UA will never play Arky State. For one, the beloved Razorbacks enjoy total media worship. Arky State usually gets a 2 inch column on page 6 of the Sat. sport section. If UA played Arky Sate, then Arky State, by default, would get the same media attention as the beloved Razorbacks. That just would never do.

Fact is neither Arky State nor any other college receives adequate media coverage in this state. Weeks upon weeks of articles rehashing the QB situation faced by the beloved Razorbacks will dominate. Articles about some kid kicking a curb outside a nightclub at 4:30 in the morning and breaking his foot will go on for weeks. Any information about another Arkansas college sports program will go largely ignored. Sad but true.

Oh, and according to the media, Arkansas is loaded this year. They have 3 legit All-Americans at back. Their true freshman QB is better than Staubach, Bradshaw, and Farve all rolled into one. Their defense will crush any offense in the nation (Except USC and that is because the officials allowed SC players to get away with murder). The offensive line is experienced and perhaps the best in the SEC. At least that is what this Breeder Reactor state believes. Personally, I think Arky State could give UA a heck of a game and possible win over the last 3 years.

BTW Arkie Staters, are you still the Indians or have you caved and become the Red? Somehow, playing a color does not scare me quite as much.

We're still the Indians.....at least at the moment.
That 'red' thing is a spirit character.
