DeMyron's Injury Improving the Offense?

Is it possible that the lack of a workhorse in the backfield is what FORCED Burns to open up the offense, which we have now discovered is actually quite good.

Turns out we didn't need to run off-tackle delays on first and second down of every drive after all!

...just a thought.

I've been thinking the same thing.

Assuming that Demyron comes back at full speed, we should do nothing, but get better throughout the year. Only thing, so is our competition, lets not jump to conclusions, we beat ark state and sam houston state, teams we should beat

I'm not saying I don't want Martin back, just that him not being here has forced our coaches to not rely on him as our whole offense. Martin may return to a lot better team than he left.

I get what you are saying and I agree for the most part

Martin was the horse in games 1 and 2 in part because (A) we had an idea what he can do and (B) there was a conscious effort to ease Willis into things. I fully expect that when Martin returns, we'll see a similarly wide-open offense. At least I hope so. Can you imagine trying to tackle Martin when you actually have to play the secondary and some linebackers back in coverage? Martin might be a lot more effective than he was before.

Go Mustangs -- BEAT TULANE!

i kinda disagree with davidsmu94. I agree on the fact that demyron will be an attribute when he comes back but the offense needs to stay spread out and gunning...you spread out a defense which opens up the run. Our recievers and j will are doing great why change what works. And davidsmu94 also wrote Ark. State and Sam Houston are teams we should beat anyway, but ark state was a bowl team last year and have already beat army who beat baylor last night. And Sam houston is a tough 1AA team who killed Stephan F austin and if i can remeber stephan f gave arizona fits this year. So offensively with our without demyron keep the same game plan

Maybe what we've seen in the last two games is the system will work with whatever RB you put in there -- to an extent.

That said, it would be foolish for us not to want Martin back there ASAP. The caliber of opponent will get tougher from here on out and you have to have your workhorse RB in there.

But our offense got better because the passing game became more vertical. And I think once Martin returns, if you keep the passing the game the same, you have an even better chance at better production.

BTW, don't know if anybody caught PB after the game. But he said on the radio, Fitzgerald would be back for Tulane and Martin continues to be on line for UTEP.

Nice to have RB depth.

Don't forget Mapps. He's been very impressive.

Don't forget about Dorsey either, he's pretty reliable and consistent

Two things.

1. I never said I didn't want Martin back, merely that his absence spurred creativity. I look forward to his return, combined with our new ideology.

2. Dorsey... has only 14 carries, lets not get carried away.
