It's not that I can't support TCU...I just won't

My company is doing the tailgate for the BYU game with plenty of brats and brew.

Regardless of how many Big 10s I see, I cannot in good consience join my colleagues. Fortunately, the partners understand.

I thought about it and am wearing a red shirt. If I went, I could have just reminded our friends to the West of how we kicked their tails in 2005. Sure, it's over a year old. But we've got bragging rights until 2007.

The only time I will step on that Godforsaken campus is when we are over there to play. Call it blind loyalty.

Just because I live in TCU land doesn't mean I have to drink the Kool-Aid.

Well said -- stick to your guns!

You should go, wearing a red shirt with SMU on it, and eat the free frog brats.

And drink free froggy beer.

And bring a foam finger that says BYU #1.

I can't do that either. I grew up out in Nevada where BYU was jammed down our throat. Actually, BYU might be the only team I would want TCU to beat.

But my friend, all of us can't support BYU. Remember the 1980 Holiday Bowl? I still want to throw up on the Hail Mary.

You're a good man Big 10. I like your way of thinking!

If TCU were still in Conference USA, who would you want to win?

I don't like BYU and I don't like TCU. I would root for a 0-0 tie after 20 overtimes. I would go and wear red with a big huge Mustang on my shirt and an SMU hat and eat Frog sausage and drink Frog beer. What can they say? "We'd beat you this year". Or, "you were lucky last year". How lame would that be.

Excellent question. If they hadn't bolted, I would root for a conference mate, even if it is TCU. Their hubris in leaving can't be excused.

Fortunately, in the long run they and their alumni, parents and fans will be the losers given the cost and logistics of MWC. When they become average or worse in FB, they will be invisible in Texas. They already are for all other sports.

That's like saying "If TCU and its fans weren't such a**holes about their neuveau riche status that their fans pretty much think their shiite doesn't stink, and hadn't stabbed their longtime brother in arms in the back twice" then who would I want to win?

You might be on to something there, A.

Actually, I don't know that it's bitterness. They're our rival, so I can't root for them.

After all, I wasn't too bitter the last time we played!

I will root for TCU to lose to BYU, and also to lose to every subsequent MWC opponent on their schedule. If they go undefeated on the season and reach a BCS bowl, I will root for them to get their asses handed to them by some BCS team.
