BOWL GAME or BUST....

This weekends upcoming game against the Tulane Green Wave will be one of the toughest games for Coach Bennett this year.

You may look down the and see ECU, Houston, and UTEP on the schedule but this weekends game is Bennetts biggest test this year.

A win this weekend and SMUs chances of making it to a bowl game will look much better but if Bennett loses, u can throw the bowl hopes out the window and probably a lot of people calling for the firing of Coach Bennett.

The time to win is now and after a 5-6 season last year its either a BOWL GAME or BUST for this coaching staff. I look for Orsini to be on his phone this weekend a lot more if SMU cant find a way to beat the Green Wave.

Yeah...on a side note, I can't get over Tulane's fans.

They think they are going to maul us...Hell, I don't think 1 of their 20 predictions called for the game to be a 1 or 2 point victory.

Nobody feels sorry for them, nobody is going to come out soft, nobody is going to be thinking about a 55 point loss at College Station 7 days ago. This is a new year. Not a man on that field tomorrow night is smellin blood more than Bennett and Burns -- those men have something to prove after last year.

Respect seems to come in baby-steps, even from our own fans. We need this road win to get some of the big mo. UTEP is soft this year, and a win in New Orleans this weekend will really give us that extra push. This is a HUGE game.

I am really looking forward to laughing in all the Tulane fans' faces after, like Arkansas State, they end up getting mauled instead. They are cellar-dwellars in every stat aspect of our conference except Punting and Punt returns. Maybe throw in 4th down conversions, or penalties against? I dunno -- but I fail to see how you can play 3 games, not produce JACK and expect to dominate the #1 rushing defense in the conference, and a middle-of-the-pack Pass Defense. On offense, hell their D is in the gutter statistically...what do they expect to do? We are going to move the ball -- a lot...the question is, will they be able to move the ball and keep up? Doubt it. Our offense is in freight train mode and this week we will have Fitzgerald, Tunner, Dorsey and Mapps in the backfield. Could be fun...

All I know is that it is time to earn some respect. Prove we can win on the road and this year gets a little brighter really quickly. Screw this emotion factor...Tulane will run out of their tunnel and see that only 15,000 people showed up in Green to support them (sorry to say it)...we love em, but this game might be the least attended game of their 4 so far. Ultimately, it won't be a sustained factor in the game.

Lets go MUSTANGS!
SMU 31 - Tulane 12 (their kicker can't make anything, much less their 2 extra points)

This IS our bowl game

Playing in the Super Dome is our bowl game for this year. The homecoming crowd, the French Quarter, the food, it doesn't get better than this. SMU fans will look back upon the coming rout as THE game that turned the corner for the ponies - winning on the road against an over confident opponent and finishing Septemer with a winning record. Oh, yes, after the Super Dome, there will be another bowl game at season's end.

WHOA guys and dolls.

Yes this is another game and yes, we can win but get off the Bowl Talk.

SMU has not ( as stated above ) EARNED any respect. We have played a few good games and we see some light, but get real.

Can this team get there - I hope so.
Will this team get there - Only God knows.

Please don't put this pressure on yourself or the team.. It is WAY early.

I also can not take another let down.

My wifey and I will be in the Superdome Saturday night pulling for the Ponies. I just wish Bus and Erin, John and the Bonds family could be there with us.

Go Ponies!

We need to EARN respect with baby-steps...it continues Saturday.

Beating a team that stomped us last year is no cupcake

Contrary to popular opinion, Tulane is no cupcake. They beat us badly last year. The game is on the road. Any win right now is a good win, but this one will be a good credit when it happens. I'll take a iwn over Tulane over a in over UTEP at this point.
