NCAA Asked to Justify Tax-Exempt Status By JIM ABRAMS

This does not specifically pertain to football, but i thought it would be of interest. The Congress is looking at the NCAA's tax exempt satus. There is a lot of money going around in football and basketball and the IRS may want a piece of the action...

"From the standpoint of a federal taxpayer, why should the federal government subsidize the athletic activities of educational institutions when that subsidy is being used to help pay for escalating coaches' salaries, costly chartered travel and state-of-the-art athletic facilities?" asked Rep. Bill Thomas, R-Calif., chairman of the tax-writing House Ways and Means Committee.

Wow. I don't know if this is good or bad. But man, I hate the NCAA.

My cat had a barium enema once.....poor thang went all over himself, thank god he was at the vet's at the time.
