ever complained about not having a special teams coach?

Here are some game notes that are written inside the front cover of the September 24, 1949 SMU versus Wake Forest game prgram. I just picked this up on E-Bay.

Wake Forest blocked Walker's punt on the SMU 2 yard line and scored from there and kicked the extra point for 7 points.

Walker passed twice to Milan (Zohn) for 72 yards and 6 points. This kick was blocked.

Walker passed once for over 50 yards to McKissack for 6 points. This kick was good.

SMU 13 - Wake Forest 7 (final score)

No mention of the swinging gate. I would trade one special teams coach for a Doak Walker any day.

Another program I got is the 1949 SMU / Arkansas game. This one has Doak's autograph in it. That wasn't advertised so I'm pretty sure the seller didn't know it was there. What a find for $19.50!

Well, at least back then, they would have had to take their [deleted] directly to the coach, either by phone or face to face, since they didn't have web sites to moan and groan on.
