Corey Slater he knows all the plays.
Corey has a better arm then Willis.
He feels that he has been beating Willis in practice week after week and hasn't gotten a chance to prove it.
He stays in the pocket and won't take off unless there isn't a play to pass to.
Sometimes what you think is a great play by a QB because he takes off running and makes a first down, wasn't the best play after all, there might have been a man down field wide open and the play was a pass play.
The Red/Blue game, If you play the number 1 offense against #2 Defense and #2 Offense against #1 defense. Who do you think is going to look better? The coaches want one team to win and they make sure it happens.
Mike Price when he was at WSU he traveled 300 miles to Liberty High School in Renton to check out Corey. I hope MP doesn't remember him or remember how good Corey is.
I don't have to hope corey does well, I know he is going to do very Good Job and make this game from us being a 10 point underdog to a win for the mustangs. I hope the odds makers give us more points because I want to make a bet on this game now. SMU 45 Utep 27

8) Ok now that's better. Almost blinded me with all that sunshine. While I think we still have a chance, let's not get too exuberant here with our score predictions. I certainly hope you're right about Slater wanting to prove himself. This is the perfect stage for him to do that on.

Even if all you say is true, you cannot simply place a QB into an offense and expect there to not be a few bumpy places along the road. Slater hasn't gotten to practice with the first team offense as much as Willis has and that's going to affect the timing of the offense. I'm worried. Let's leave it at that.

Man, I hope you're right, webfeet. You obviously know and like Corey, and your confidence in him is great. I hope we all have to come on here tonight and say "thanks, webfeet, you were right."

Good luck, Corey! Make us proud.

GO MUSTANGS!

I think Bennett should try out all his QBs if the 'stangs fall behind too earlier.

Put in E.J., then put in Duke, then even try Columbus Givens who played QB in High School.

GOD HELP US...

I will say this:

Remember that we beat UTEP last year with Jerad Romo. If we can force more turnovers as we did last year, I think Corey Slater could pull it off.. ESPECIALLY if we stick to the game plan. We have to be aggressive. I'm scared to death PB will make the same mistake he always makes in this situation which is conservative play calling.

Expect Slater to throw some picks. Let's just hope Palmer does as well.

And things were going so well..

DAMN YOU WILLIS!

Are you bashing on ROMO now???...Jared was a good QB if I recall.

He had size, arm strength and made good decisions on where to throw the ball. He lead us to 5 wins last year too.

That's a good point. A small glimmer of hope. You're right; we have to remain aggressive. That's how we won last year. If we want to be play with the big boys we have to suck it up and play like we know can.

The point is JT.. Romo never threw up spectactular numbers.. I was never impressed with his throwing motion or decision making skills. He was average.. that said, I love Romo for leading us to those wins last year. He was certainly the best we had, but Willis is more of a pure passer than he was. And a spread offense needs an accurate arm :)

Red Blue game? Corey looked like crap, and looked like a wasted scholarship.

However, in the Fall practice and in particular the NT game, Corey's arm strength shined - had Sanders caught that diving throw to end the half, we probably win that one.

I only hope they don't sattle Corey with too few of plays (read: running plays up the middle) to allow him to shine threw.

How are Slater's legs?? I missed the UNT game. If he can run we'd be better off. Jerad had good speed. We need speed because I don't think the o-line has been that great this year.

We are better off with putting Henderson in the Shot Gun and letting him find holes to run.
