how Cavan is still criticized for suspending Dante Womack for the TCU game, yet PB isn't for suspending Willis. Both Cavan and Bennett did the right thing. The buck stops with them!

Someone said it before, if we lose this game and it sends us into a tailspin, Bennett had better have an airtight reason for suspending Willis or he just signed his own pink slip.

Doesn't matter what his reason is; I would be willing to bet that if this does send us into a tailspin Bennett is gone anyway, the world of college football has no room for people with ethics or morals.

it wasn't bennets choice to suspend him.. if it was then he wouldn't have flown all the way to el paso with the team friday morning.

So who's choice was it?

Maybe he got all of the information after the team got to El Paso.
Win or lose, Coach Bennett always has seemed to be a man who does the right thing at all costs. I have to believe he's right in this, and that Willis made some boneheaded error in judgement from which he will learn.
More importantly: BEAT THE HELL OUT OF UTEP.

I dont think P.B. was behind this suspension. Bennett wants nothing more than for Willis to succeed and for this team to make it to a bowl game.
This will be P.Bs last year if he cant get them to a winning mark and I highly doubt this was his call.
Im sure higher heads made the decision and told P.B. that Willis needs to be disciplined. Orsini and someone else within the SMU department has something to do with this suspension.

and on what are you basing those statements?

On the fact that Bennett wants to win because his job is on the line. He would not have suspended Willis for this game unless he was told to. He would have given him punishment runs or sat him out for a QTR...

i totally agree with you J.T.
P.B. wouldn't suspend willis over something like this, if anything he would just punish him whenever they get home from a victory on sunday. according to dmn the choice wasn't made until late friday afternoon... bennet knew going out to el paso that this had happened and the decision wasn't made until late friday night to send willis home... if if was bennet's choice to suspend him, he wouldn't have taken him out there in the first place.

Donte was in a girls dorm after hours. We don't know what Wallis did yet.

When did this happen? Thursday night? If that is the case, then PB didn't KNOW about it until they landed in el Paso..

What? That was my freshman year, there were no all boy or all girl dorms. There were all girl or all boy floors, but there was no curfew.

JT,
You are right! It was not PB choice, because he does not make those decisions. He is a football coach, and former player. It would take more than that to suspend a player. Now the school, on the other hand, and the AD have other responsibilities, like to other students. Was there any discipline for the three students involved in the fight and arrest back when? One Qb, Two RB, and a lineman? I wish eveyone would stop talking bout PB job being on the line. Every coach at every level, in every sport have the pressure to win now, not just SMU. I would think, because of the history of the program, there would be more lattitude.
