What If?

Even if they do let Willis play, how effective will he be? He has not been able to throw with the team all week and if he starts its possible that we could see a repeat of last weeks first half until he gets warmed up. There is also another team rule that states if you do not practice by Wednesday you cannot play. Hopefully if this is the case we can make an exception.

I would think that his timing wouldn't be off THAT much (and that the second he's reinstated, he's out on the field throwing with as many receivers as he can round up). With that said, after all the work Slater has put in, he should start. If Willis is reinstated and Slater struggles, then you think about a switch. But Slater deserves another start. I'd like to see a full game like the second half he played at UTEP.

That would be fair. Slater should get the start, but I think two three and outs is cause to go to the bullpen.

I think it would be a tough decision. The rest of the team will have practiced more than Justin. I don't know if he's spent any time studying playbook or film. Whenever Justin is reinstated, Bennett should probably try and get him back in that starting position asap. The last thing we need is a QB controversy.

As Bennett said, he's the number one quarterback for a reason.

The biggest difference everyone is forgetting.. Willis has played in 5 games this season. It's like hitting the reset button for Slater.. not his fault.. but we have to break-in another QB. That has to be the biggest difference.
I don't care if Willis is reinstated tomorrow.. he should start IF he has time to get in on the gameplan.. simply because he's already gotten some experience with the speed of the game, his reads in real-time and finally has his feet under him.. plus he's just got the winning edge. You KNOW he'd make himself ready if he's given a day's notice.
Now.. would it happen.. I doubt it. But if Slater wasn't effective.. i would sure love to have Justin ready to go. I wonder who's backup.. Eric Johnson?

I do wonder.... He clearly has access to the coaches. Does he have access to the film room?

I think Bennett said he doesn't have access to any of the athletic facilities, so I would think that would include the film room.

I don't think very many people still have access to a VCR

Willis knows the offense, so I'm assuming he'll be mostly ready, whenever he's reinstated. He certainly will have to brush up on the gameplan, and will need to throw some to the receivers, but it's not like tossing an unprepared rookie QB in there.
And 35straight -- you're having a little too much fun with your avatar.

My wife still has one, I'm thinking of donating it to the Smithsonian.
