SMU has reinstated quarterback Justin Willis, who was suspended last week.
Willis, who is expected to play against Marshall on Saturday, is practicing with the team this afternoon at Ford Stadium. He was the last player to emerge from the tunnel and take the field.
The investigation by the Office of Student Life has concluded, and Willis will abide by unspecified sanctions, according to a university release. The Dallas Police Department is still investigating, though no charges have been filed.
“Several factors have influenced the decision to reinstate Justin,†athletic director Steve Orsini is quoted in the release. “He is remorseful and contrite and has apologized for his actions. He understands that this was not acceptable behavior, and he has been penalized. He has been truthful and cooperative with all authorities involved in gathering facts on this matter. With lessons learned, it’s time to move on.â€
