Posted: Sat Oct 14, 2006 8:31 amAbsolutely not. Slater hasn't fought anybody, had a good second half at UTEP, has been at practice every day working with the first-team offense and deserves to start. Of course, if the offense sputters, Coach B won't hesitate to pull him, because obviously there's every reason to have confidence in "the backup."

Posted: Sat Oct 14, 2006 11:41 amThe best player should be out there. Slater can start if that makes everyone warm and fuzzy. It sucks for Slater, but I want to win and that means having Willis out there. It's time to start acting like a real program and that means no moral victories and no letting the backup play when our starter is available.
