I might be dead by the time they crack the top 25 of the Sargin ratings. NOT the AP 25 but the Sargin ratings.

SMU will never be a Top 25 program again until it decides to make the additional changes that are necessary to be a nationally competitive program. When will Rice make the Top 25?

If they win out, it could be this year. (but not likely)

If they win out and get some good recruits in the off season, it could be next year.

Don't get too hung up on the past when looking at the college football poll future. There are a lot of politics involved in the votes that are cast in the assorted football polls. A big 12 school can get votes just by having a winning record. SMU needs a bunch of wins before they'll get votes. However, I believe that if SMU can win a bunch of games (8-9) they'll start getting some recognition.

I grew up in El Paso and never thought the Miners would be ranked. They were horrible for so many years. However, they have cracked the top 25 poll twice in the last 3 years.
You never know.

that's right and I've explained many times exactly how UTEP accomplished that.

Your arm must hurt a helluva lot from patting yourself on the back so much.

Yep, it is "recruiting" all of those Division I transfers that did it for them.
