I tought I caught the end of them saying something along those lines during the Basketball game. I could be wrong.

He played for SMU in the early 90's.

I'm pretty sure that's correct. I remember Luke breaking the record, or at least tying it. Chad was pretty damn good as well. He was all SWC if memory serves me correctly. PRW, I can't beleive you don't remember him. He would have grauated in 92 or 93 I think. Anyone know for sure?

Patton never was the school's all-time leader in sacks.
Patton had 18 in his career. That put him one short of Anthony Beverley (1981-84), who had 19. Luke Johnson finished his career with 22.5.
Although he never sat atop the sacks list, consider that Patton was an undersized defensive lineman on a team that was badly outmatched more often than not. And he also was frequently facing teams that held big leads, and therefore didn't drop back to pass as often as they otherwise might have. All this makes Patton's performance with the Ponies even more impressive. He was a great Mustang!
