How about sparking up weekly giveaways at home games to get people in the stands.... How about every week they giveaway a Range Rover??

Game plan for filling up the stadium:

1. Win
2. Keep winning
3. Cheap seat giveaways (like Russ Potts did) to fill north end zone
4. Recruit high profile Dallas area football studs
5. High profile celeb sideline appearances (e.g. Matthew McConaughey)
6. Sex up the dance teams
7. Schedule winnable money games (Ok St, Baylor, Kansas, Ole Miss)
8. Play your stud quarterback in the biggest games
9. Win
10. Keep winning

I thought of some more:

11. Invite big HS bands when visitor brings no band (e.g. Plano, SLC, Dallas Carter)
12. Big ad campaign next year reminiscent of Mustang Mania
13. Win

1. Of course
2. Of course
3. Definetely
4. Not sure how the recruitment of them helps...now after we sign them and they are winning championships on the field, sure.
5. Sure
6. They already look pretty good to me!
7. Sounds like a plan
8. Yep!
9. Of course
10. Of course
11. Allen's band - they have something like 600 members and are the largest band in Texas
12. That would be great!
13. Of course

Item 5 if a tough one. Those guys or gals on the sideline are there because they call and beg to be there. They are not brought in for promotion. We need to win and be in the limelight and on the air for them to care enough to show up.

I also said on the air. And I mean nationally so the hots shots can promote their album or their movie or just get their face out there. If they really wanted to see the game they would be in the stands or the boxes where you can actually see what is going on, not mugging for the camera.

And, although much less now, we have never drawn large crowds compared to the "big boys".

Speaking of "celebs" or high profile people on the sidelines. Did anyone else notice Bobby Carpenter on the Marshall sidelines - in green none the less. Now, one could argue about his celebrity status - more like meteoric fall from grace, but why can't we get some people like that on our sidelines ever. Secondly, does anyone know of any connection between Carpenter and Marshall? My buddies and I couldn't come up with one.

I remember a few years ago seeing an SMU Football Billboard of of 75 central expressway.

SMU needs to start puting up billboards across highways in Dallas.

I know that major CFB programs do this for their upcoming season, big games, and for heisman hopefuls.

This would be a great way to get peoples attention to come to SMU football games.

I thought Tulane had a clever idea by spelling out T-U-L-A-N-E in huge letters across part of the upper deck @ Superdome, thus concealing thousands of empty seats.

It doesn't put butts in the seats I realize, but it does help the visual effect & force the crowd to buy seats closer to the field.

Y'know, maybe you have something. We'll just get the same size letters and use the upper and lower (i.e. red and blue) levels to spell S-O-U-T-H-E-R-N M-E-T-H-O-D-I-S-T

Okay, RGV, I'm with ya.

But my plan was to also spell out U-N-I-V-E-R-S-I-T-Y on the west side of the stadium-- across the windows of the Club Section & make those SOBs come out & watch the game for real!!!

This argument is revisited every season, and I have yet to see a solution that works...
We could give an hour of A out to any student that turns in stubs from every game?
