Looking at their projections, We need to win 7 games to get a lock bid.
Ivan Maisel has UAB finishing 2nd in CUSA. Tulsa was picked at CUSA champion.

I just don't see UAB winning the East, I think that is pretty much all SoMiss. They still have to play us, UTEP, and SoMiss and with a loss to Rice nothing is going to be easy for them.
Tulsa has a good shot at winning the West unless they have a meltdown like Houston which I wouldn't mind in the least.
We just need to keep playing better and better because our games are going to get harder each week. Then, if we come out successful we shall get the respect that we want.

Just because Maisel has UAB in the GMAC Bowl doesn't mean he has them 2nd. Maisel believes GMAC will take the Blazers, probably due to the proximity of the school to Mobile.
I disagree with him, however, that UAB will be bowl-eligible.

HE DOES have UAB #2 because the GMAC bowl is for the team that finishes in 2nd in CUSA. That means he has them either losing the CUSA championship or have them being ahead of So. Miss after they lose that game.

No, the GMAC Bowl is not for the team that finishes 2nd in CUSA. It is for the second
choice team out of CUSA. In other words, the GMAC Bowl gets the next choice of team, after the Liberty Bowl.
http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/ ... column.htmGMAC Bowl officials will get the first selection from the MAC to face the No. 2 choice from Conference USA. The Motor City Bowl agreed to allow GMAC Bowl officials the first selection this year to help the MAC in its bid for a second bowl.

YES, a committee would consider us BUT if we were one of the last CUSA teams to get a crack at a bid and the committee had another 6-6 team from CUSA, they would look at who would bring them the most profit, who would be the best team.
I dont like the possibility if it was US and one more 6-6 CUSA team that had a chance to get the last CUSA bowl. I believe the competition committee of each Bowl Board would look at who we have played and who we have lost to. 1 top 25 program and another program that needed 7 OTs to win 25-22. The UNT loss will hurt our bowl chances if we just win 6 games. Thats why it is too early to talk about bowl games even though ESPN put out their predicitions. Once we get to win 5 and 6, then we can talk about it.

These picks look pretty suspect which I guess makes it kinda pointless to project this early. For instance that Shalsblach idiot has Utah and TCU in the Poinsetta bowl, no way would they invite two teams from the same conference that have already played each other.
Heh, and Maisel has TCU going to no bowl at all, now that would be funny.

New Orleans / Arkie State = Loads of fun....PLEASE finish 8-4 boys, so we can go to a better bowl...

^exactly correct. In my opinion, the UAB game is the most important game remaining on the schedule. If we beat them, they will have a very tough road to 6 wins.
