A UCF poster on Mustang Maniacs left this:

"I thought I would stop by and see how you like Steve Orsini thus far. He really did a great job for us at UCF and am sure he will do the same at SMU. Have you liked what you have seen so far?"

I thought that was rather decent of him. I like what Orsini has done for us so far, he definitely has us going in the right direction, especially starting with the big facilities push.

Orsini really pushed hard for the new basketball and football facilities at UCF.. most impressive perhaps was that he raised all private funds.. not a taxpayer dollar will help build or maintain the facilities. They're impressive facilities as well.. this new area of campus will be thriving once it is complete... not only is it a monsterous athletics complex, but its also a multi-purpose project with new dorms, retail space (barnes and noble among and a couple restaurants among other tenants), etc.

Hopefully during his tenure, we can raise the money to give Moody the renovations it REALLY needs!

He will. He's already got a good chunk of it.

Moody renovations are in the plans, and the funds are coming in, from what I understand.

When Orsini was hired, I talked with UCF men's soccer coach Bernt Erwin -- a former assistant coach at SMU -- and he absolutely raved about Orsini, as a boss and as a person in general. He said that although he (Erwin) had only worked for Orsini for a year, the change in the athletic department was impossible to ignore, and that he fully expects Orsini to have a similar impact here.

I did not know Erwin was the men's coach at UCF.. that explains why they played us so close last week!

They only lost, 1-0, to us in Dallas last year. He and Kevin Grimes (former All-America defender and assistant coach at SMU, now the head coach at Cal) know Schellas Hyndman better than any coaches in America.
