A Dallas man is in custody after he fatally shot a pregnant
woman and then tried to flee on a public bus, gun in hand,
police said.
Marcus Oliver Moseley, 20, was being held Friday at the
Lew Sterrett Justice Center, said Sgt. Gil Cerda, a Dallas
police spokesman. He faces a capital murder charge.
Investigators believe that Moseley shot Shaniqua Renee Perry
during an argument at 9:30 p.m. Thursday in the 3400 block
of Carpenter Avenue in south Dallas, Cerda said. The area is
a few blocks
southeast of Fair Park.
Perry was five months pregnant.
Witnesses told police they saw Moseley and Perry argue, Cerda
said. One witness reported hearing a shot and another saw
Moseley run to a bus operated by Dallas Area Rapid Transit.
"At this point, he tries to enter the bus with a gun in his hand,
but the bus driver told him, 'You can't get on the bus with that,'
so he throws it off the bus," Cerda said.
The driver called his supervisor, who notified police, Cerda said.
Officers stopped the bus and made the arrest.
Moseley faces capital murder charges because Perry was
pregnant, Cerda said.
