Who will we get for the next head coach?

For a while I thought phil would be able to pulled off a "Shumate" and keep his job for another year.

But after the ECU debacle

It is time for him to go!!!!!!!!!!

not so fast. yea, his coaching isn't the best, but as long as he continues to win games (4-4 isn't bad but we should be better), he is staying. I honestly think our coaching is what kills this team. We have great talent on both sides of the ball, hard hitters, athletes, runners, you name it. But coaching is killing us. We're turning it over, not converting 3rd downs due to horrific play calling and getting penalized too often, and those usually kill a drive. Plus they're not prepared for some games (cough, cough UNT and ECU). As much as I doubt his coaching abilities, hes not going anywhere. Even if we go 5-7, he'll probably stay. Hes not doing something right. In todays game, mobile QBs are the answer. Look at WVU. They came out of nowhere now are a top 5 team. I think we should recruit for speed. We need some trackstars to walk on.

Also, we have no running game. Why do they continue to run out of the pistol formation? It never works. They need to be more creative in playcalling, spread the ball out. They do that well at home, but on the road they always seem clueless. Bottom line, the coaching is killing this team (you could say pass defense, but our secondary isn't being coached well enough to make adjustments), so hopefully PB can rebound and finish strong.

Lets wait until after the season to start talking about possible replacements for PB. If PB cannot take this team bowling then he should be gone.

SMU played hard-Idisagreed with running wide on 4th Down especially w/o Martin in the game but SMU was prepared and didn't lose because of coaching. SMU simply is not a strong run blocking team The real reason SMU lost today was Speed-Aldridge had it-our Safeties don't. Speed kills and makes Coaches look poor. Bennett deserves to at least be given until the end of the season before we write him off.

Sorry Stallion. We had top 25 defenses prior to Phil Bennet turning loose Shuman after he took the helm. What are we now? You love stats and facts, so deleve into the undeniable. Our defense has been atrocious under our defensive guru, PB.

Let's have some accountability.

Sometimes Defensive Coordinators don't make the best head coaches. I would say John L. Smith would be the best canidate for the job if PB is gone. I'm sure Orsini already as a list made of choices.

Hey don't complain to me about Schumann-remember my Grand Plan was to hire Charlie Waters but what many on here forget is that part of that scenario was for Schumann to be retained as Defensive Coordinator and then go spend a lot of money on an offensive coordinator.

Rice never was a gimme. They're suddenly a pretty solid team.

I hate to say it, but I am thinking we're looking at a 5-7 season....

Tulsa- good team that can beat us, and how many people are gonna show up now that we have no real shot at a bowl? Plus, Ohio St. -Michigan is on at the same time.

Rice - all of a sudden they're a contender playing good football. They beat Tulsa, so they can take us. And its a road game.

5-7 is what I am seeing, and even if we do win out, I am not seeing a bowl. We go 5-7, Orsini should start looking at new coordinators.

I don't like even thinking about this, but if PB can't get to at least 6-6, I think he's gotta go. 6-6, and I think he stays, unless there is someone just too good to pass up.
