After we down a punt on their 1, hold them to a 3-and-out, and get the ball at their 45 (Thanks Blake Warren for running backwards -- overrated punt returner), we wind up missing Morstead's 45-yard FGA.
Then on the next situation, we get another 3-and-out(?), Warren's return for a TD is nullified by a flag, and then we don't make 4th-and-1 at the 28.
That's where this game turned against SMU. When you get chances to score, especially on the road, you better finish. If we come away with something on each, I think the game looks different in the fourth quarter.
Yes, our pass defense was horrible, but this was the signature moment of the game -- in my opinion.
