SMU's first game in HD

I might be wrong, but this will be SMU's first game in HD, baby. Glorious high definition.

"Num-nummy-nummy" - George Foreman, after saying "I guess I have eat my words."

I was concerned that we might get screwed on an HD telecast. Don't know why, but I just felt the old woe-is-me Smootitude coming over me... so I checked:

10/31/2006 CFB UAB Blazers vs. SMU Mustangs 7:30 PM ESPN2HD (720p)

http://www.hdsportsguide.com/cfb.php

I might be wrong, but the main reason I was concerned at all is I thought I had seen an ESPN2 game that was not hi def. But I could have been mistaken (all other games I had caught on ESPN2 were in hi def... and of course every ESPN game has been in HD).

Go Mustangs... in glorious HD.

Set your TiVos/DVRs now.

If you have HD you will get ESPN and ESPN 2 in both HD and non HD. If you do not have HD obviously you do not get the HD broadcast. In other words, I will have my option on Tuesday to watch ESPN2 on HD or regular broadcast. Now I must go ponder which. HMMMMMMMMMMM

Mdryel, you are not going to be in town. PLEASE bring the judge and all your collective wives. WE NEED YOU.

I'm guessing you are directing that portion of your post towards my ascertian that I might have seen a game on ESPN2 *not* in HD. Let me assure you I only watch ESPN and ESPN2 on their HD feeds. Once you go HD you can't go back.

And now:

Wish I could be there. If I could get a flight back Tuesday night I would, but until my new owners decide whether or not I have a job I think I should be at work during the week. BTW, if anyone could use a couple of tickets let me know where to send them.

Not from Utah. Either he meant my wife and the Judge's wife or he expects me to invite my ex also.

Let's see how the game plays out first.

BTW, when was SMU's last national telecast? Is the game against Tulane this year considered a national telecast? If so, it doesn't seem as high-profile as this since there were other games going on. This will be the only game (that I know of) in town.

I'm still trying to figure out what smu diamond m meant by that last post.

Ah, yes... I was guessing that might be what he was saying.

Well the Tulane game was technically considered a National Telecast, and so was last year's game at Marshall. But honestly, I cannot count those, because the majority of americans, even those who claim to be college football fans, always reply "what's CSTV?"

I think our last true national TV games was a game against TCU in the late ninties. For a number of years there ESPN (or ESPN2) would always show the SMU TCU game. But it has been a good long while since we had a true National TV audience.
