\"In Your Face Football\"????

This marketing slogan just didn't do it for me last season. It says NOTHING about SMU or the Mustangs in the wording. Any good PR or marketing major knows that you have to get your product (i.e. team mascot or school) mentioned in the words. Remember "Mustang Mania"? Suggestions for this year?

SMU SPIRIT - IT STARTS NOW!

(This also - subliminally - gets my Dad's name in there, too!)

Mustang Mania!
Us "oldies" remember it... and it worked.
The young'uns would like it.
It was catchy and had positive results.
With some of the "retro" fashions making a comeback this fall, with the idea that "everything old is new again", I think it would make sense. Obviously, it wouldn't be a drawback. However, I would hope that our crack marketing department would already be finalizing the media blitz for the 2003 campaign.

While I love the "Mustang Mania" slogan (heck, I still have license plate holders with that on there and, yes, I'm one of the 'oldies', too!), I'm afraid that the media would use it to - once again - bring up the scandal that brought forth the Death Penalty to SMU. Retro is nice...sometimes. But in this case, I would rather come up with something new and 'fresh' that wouldn't bring up memories of the worst thing that ever happened to SMU's football program. We need to keep moving forward...and not give the media the opportunity to dredge it up for the public once again.

As for SMU's 'crack marketing department', I agree...I sure hope they've come up with something for the 2003 season. I am REALLY getting tired of seeing the "In Your Face Football" billboard in the terminal of Dallas' Love Field every time I fly in there.

Mustang Mania, Mustang Stampede yada yada yada sound so week and whimpy. If that is the kind of slogan you want, that is the kind of football and spirit you'll get.
How about something that sounds hard(that is what football is about, being hard) like "Enough Said" or "Time to Kick F****** [deleted]" or "Krunk and Pissed"
Open to hearing some more serious hard sounding slogans
