There was a nice piece about Thomas Morstead on the sports segment tonight. He seems like he's a really good young man. If he doesn't end up going to med school, he's going to become a teacher. It was mentioned he's #1 in CUSA and #16 in the nation. Bennett even said he's future NFL material.

I agree that he has a chance to go pro. His distance is very legitimate, but his hangtime is exceptional. He also has a very quick release, and if he gets better at directional punting, he could get drafted.

I'd say Shane Lechler, but I think there's been one since.
Others who have been drafted: Ray Guy, Todd Sauerbrun.

you don't have to get drafted to make it in the NFL

That is very true. Willy Parker is a prime example of someone not drafted. I figured Ray Guy was drafted being that he has an award named after him. Just wasnt sure what other punters were drafted.

Russell Erxleben was drafted in the first round as a kicker who could also punt

3 punters were drafted last year.
Rd Sel# Player Pos. School
3 99 Dustin Colquitt P Tennessee
6 210 Reggie Hodges P Ball State
7 239 Paul Ernster P Northern Arizona
I believe Colquitt was the only one to make the roster.

I'm sure that Baylor's Daniel Sepulveda will be drafted this year. No doubt in my mind about that.

Sepulveda was a big boot and is a great punter. I was unaware that so many Punters got drafted.
Ray Guy will be the ONLY punter ever taken in the first round.

I think there will be questions about Sepulvada hang-time-bet he doesn't get drafted at all. He is a line drive punter and they don't last long in the NFL.

I dont know about that, Al David drafted Sebastian Janikowski in the 1st round about 6-7 years ago, it wouldnt shock me to see a punter go in the first round, field position is pretty important in the NFL. With that said, I dont expect that to happen anytime soon, just saying it wouldnt shock me
