Former SWC team has the same problem as the 'Stangs

Sound like anyone else?

Memo to UH fans: Shut up. Now and forever. You've got a good team, a fun team to watch, and you're still not going to games. Last Saturday's game drew 13,242. Go ahead and blame the Chronicle for that number. If we'd have written one more story, you would have gone. Blame Texas A&M and Texas, too. They conspired to bring the program down. The truth is, you didn't deserve to be in the Big 12 because your facilities and attendance weren't good. You've told us you won't go back until the team is respectable. That's not true. You're not going back because you don't care.

Amazing. It's like bizarro-SMU-world exists down in Houston.

Except that they are a public commuter school.

Whereas SMU is smaller and the kids don't care about football because they would rather be in Vail for the weekend...

UH is huge and the kids( and adults) don't care because they have to work at Arby's on the weekend.

Seriously, I went to law school there. UofH football is like if El Centro Community College had a football team.

Or SMU. ;) In actuality that is about right, as I think the thoughts about Rice football are more closely akin to SMU.

...

Funnny though, Rice - at least in their area of town - has a good amount of signage on game days, etc. Not that it translates in butts in the seats.

You can put 35k in Rice's stadium and it would still look empty. That would also be about equal to all the Rice alumni and staff, living and dead. I heard they added metal bleachers, but I still imagine it is a dump.
