All right I go over to the DMN sports website... which I have a continuous tab open to at all times, because I am nut for all thing Dallas sports... well it's less than three hours to kickoff for one of SMU's biggest games in years... and what's the top story? You know the one with the picture? A story by Rick Gosselin on the COLTS?!!??!!?

Now, seriously... Gosselin's stuff is good stuff and he provides an interesting look at the other NFL teams in the league, but....

For one of the primary sponsors of SMU athletics, I would just like to see them run, on their website, the game that is kicking off in a couple hours as their top story. Just to maybe remind people that their is a game tonight.

Seriously.... the Cowboys played on Sunday, the Stars play tomorrow (of course they suffer the same slings and arrows that SMU football does in terms of coverage), and the Mavs season hasn't even begun yet (not even a pre-season game tonight)!

My point is simply this... I have been upset that we don't get more coverage from the DMN in the past.... but I have never felt slighted about it. The amount of coverage we get from them is more than the average Dallasite cares about the 'Stangs. But for just when night, when so little is going on that a story about a team from Indianapolis can take centerstage on the DMN online Sports Section.... why not run a story about the ONLY game going on in the Metroplex tonight? I mean, even TCU and NT aren't playing. No one but the Ponies.

Of course I'm also hacked at the athletic department for not just blanketing the entire DMN site with sidebars and pop ups informing people of the game, but that's another argument for another day.

BTW - I am aware that once the game starts there is a ninety-nine percent likelihood that they will change their top story to the SMU game, so I know I am just whining a bit... but I'm just hoping that the stadium is packed, and looking for anyway that folks to be reminded/made aware that there is a game tonight.

There's a story about the NBA starting up on the front page. Also a link to the SMU coverage, which has been so closely documented as placed in the pressed pulp edition in another thread, by a very astute poster. About a million days of SMU coverage in a row, and some of you people still aren't happy. I'm starting to wonder if your true dissatisfaction isn't in the team who cannot seem to warrant the coverage you desire.

ive been having my girlfriend send me clipings from the dmn... even if you feel we dont get enough coverage, some is better then none. im sick of reading about OSU and OU

No. I'm completely on board with the amount of coverage we get. We win tonight, and we'll get a nice amount tomorrow, no doubt. I'm just saying, I'd like to see a nice pic and the link to this morning's (last night's) Katie H. story, and then a little late a link to the college blog.

Yeah, I pick up the DMN quite often down here just to read about the ponies in some other form other than the digital.

Would have bee a good bet to take because looking at the website now, the lead story is actually NASCAR. The only mention of the SMU game is on the sidebar with a note about Royse City's Own under the college blog. Now I don't think very many people outside of loyal SMU fandom will make the association of that to James Mapp and then to coverage of the SMU game. Kate did have some good posts on the blog concerning the game, but still no highlighting SMU on the main site. I guess we can say our blessings that there wasn't a bowling tournament in town, or we could have been pushed lower....

Maybe Kate and the DMN are just so busy putting together a huge feature article with color photos and charts that they haven't had a chance to finish it.
