Probably not possible (due to a probable lack of interest by the sports networks), but if it were, I wouldn't mind seeing some sort of deal to allow SMU to play on Halloween every year. Let's make it a regular occurrence like the Cowboys on Thanksgiving. I think it could only help national exposure/recognition.

I know every Thanksgiving, the first thing that comes to my mind is: Great, I get to watch the Cowboys today while I hang out with my family. Maybe eventually people would come to know (perhaps even subconsciously) the same thing about Halloween and SMU.

I think anything that gets us on national television is a good thing, but I don't think the networks would go for it. It worked out this year because Halloween fell on a Tuesday, but if it falls on a Saturday when there are several other games on the networks would probably want to show some other game.

I think something more realisitic would be 2 to 3 tuesday games a season for each conference usa team. It would increase awareness of not only SMU, but conference USA as a whole, and what else are they going to show on ESPN 2 during primetime on a Tuesday?

It was just a coincidence that we played on Halloween. The reason we were on Nat Tv was because of the Tuesday night contract CUSA has with ESPN2.

I sent the every Halloween thought to the marketing folks when it was first announced. The biggest problem is that Halloween changes days every year, but scheduling could be worked around it and I still think it is a good marketing idea. This was the question I emailed Orisini in the QA sessions they had but it did not get answered.

Some years Halloween is gonna fall on Sunday or Monday, and nobody is televising college football on Sunday or Monday.

I would. By the way, Rutgers just played Sunday night on ESPN or ESPN2.

I realize Halloween will change every year. I think, though, that unless it falls on a Saturday, it may be plausible for us to be on National TV. OK, so when Halloween falls on a Saturday, we still get our National TV game, but on Friday or Thursday of that week "leading up to Halloween".
