Highlight of the night

Peruna...the intro they did with Peruna with him bucking before the players ran out. I thought that was great. It should be a tradition every game. It seemed to get the fans fired up. The ref outfit was a good touch as well.

I'm pretty sure they do it at every game.

Haven't missed a game since last year, and have seen it much more than just last night...

Just because you didn't see it doesn't mean it didn't happen, Mr Tree in the forest with no one around to hear it.

I was a Peruna Handler a few years back. In my 9 years of SMU football, Peruna has always been run out of the band/cheer/pom tunnel ahead of the team. Sometimes, he's a little more anxious than others and he bucks quite a bit. Also, sometimes if the team is taking a little while to come out, the handlers will get him to rear up and do a few other tricks.

This year, they also started running him during the pre-game show with the band. We did this while I was handler, but it wasn't done before then or after then until this year. As far as I've noticed, that's the only "new" thing that they're doing.

He was probably all flustered with the Tuesday night game. The horse is used to working on Saturdays.

I like the other tricks best. That time y'all got him to set up a 3-card monte game was awesome.

I was a Handler as well in the 90's.. and I'll tell you what was going on.

Horses get spirited when it's cold.. no kidding. Peruna was always feisty on cold gamedays.. or nights. That's why you saw Peruna bucking and pawing at the ground so much.
What we obtain too cheap.. we esteem too lightly. It is persistence alone that gives everything its value.
