The Goalposts at Ford

Postby MrMustang1965 » Sun Nov 05, 2006 5:12 pm

Can someone tell me which game prompted SMU officials to buy the automatic collapseable goal posts? Was it the TCU game or was it before that? Thanks, in advance.

I believe it was because of that game in 2004...when we beat San Jose State to snap the losing streak.

Of couse, it being SMU something bad had to happen that night and one of the college guys got sent to the hosiptal was the students tore down the goal posts.

Tragic, but that's part of tearing down goalposts.

You choose to participate, you accept the consequences.

Everyone should not be denied the glory of ripping them down just because one person had an accident.

Four SMU students succeed in tearing down the South goal
post at Gerald J. Ford Stadium in Dallas on September 25, 2004.

After police deterred students from tearing down the north goal post,
they turned around and proceeded to the slightly guarded South goal post.

The victory marked an end to the Mustang's 15-game losing
streak.

5 different groups, including 4 Police municipalities, that tried to
prevent students from rushing the field after SMU beat San Jose
State, ending the 15 game losing streak.

Paramedics assist SMU student Garrett W. Haake, 19. He was
injured while fans pulled down the goalpost after SMU's win.
According to reports, his skull was fractured, but he has no
brain damage. David Haake, Garrett’s father, said his son is
still in intensive care. “He’s improving, and he’s looking forward
to coming back to school. He will be fine in time,” he said.

Jim Caswell, the vice president of student affairs, said he and
the rest of the university continue to be concerned about
Haake’s health and well-being.

What would be the definitive Rolling Stones song to define SMU football this season?

I say Wild Horses.

I just want to know what I am supposed to do about eating. A "slim" guy like me might collapse without my "brats".

Thinking back on the NTSU game, I am torn between "You Can't Always Get What You Want" and "[deleted]".
