Rice-aroni

After starting the season 0-4 on the road against UCLA, Florida State, and Texas (and a 1 pt loss to Houston)...

...Rice has quietly gone 4-1, beating UTEP last week, in El Paso.

They have about as much of a chance of finishing 7-5 as we do.

We had better get our win this week against Houston.

I think I'd rather have two losses come, if they come, to UH and Tulsa. I don't think I could bear a UH/Tulsa split only to lose the last chance game at the hands of Rice in Houston.

Who have they played? Let's see. Army, Tulane, UCF, UAB, UTEP. Those aren't exactly top-tier teams. They finish the season against Tulsa, ECU, and us. I don't see them winning even a majority of those, much less ALL of them.

ARMY
Rice beat the crap out of Army - Army beat Baylor, and should have beaten aTm

TULANE - SMU and RICE beat TULANE
Tulane is 3-6, which includes 2 losses to Auburn and LSU (in my book that makes them more like 3-4 by our competition, with an SEC win over MSU)

UCF - no comment

UAB - SMU and Rice beat UAB

UTEP
We lost to UTEP, they beat UTEP.

BACK TO HOUSTON
They lost to Houston at the buzzer, 31-30. - "Kevin Kolb threw two touchdowns in the fourth quarter as Houston came from 16 points down to defeat Rice 31-30 Saturday night."

I would bet that Rice wins 2 of their next 3 at a minimum.

I don't care if Army beat Baylor and should have beaten A&M. Army is bad. Army lost to Ark St. Army is 3-7 with wins against VMI, Baylor, and Kent St.

Tulane ain't so hot and as for MSU, just because you're BCS does not make you good e.g. Duke

UTEP sucks. You lose to bad teams when you come out offensively inept and missing 3 integral starters.

I am in no way saying Rice is awful. Rice is pretty good, but in no way will they finish 7-5. I don't even think they will pull out a 6-6.

I have to give MSU props for that then. But I'm still sticking with Rice not finishing bowl eligible.

Baylor isn't good, and A&M is nowhere near as good as its record. Nice record -- can't take that away from them. But the Ags are nowhere near as good as their record.

how can you possibly question Rice's schedule with a straight face?

a&m is bad... but a win is a win... 17-16 against OU isnt bad, and only 2 losses

Yeah, and who have we beaten? And who have we lost to?

Tech must be a bad BCS team because they have 4 losses.

Rice, repeated again because you are an idiot, has played FSU (then #18)after they beat Miami, Texas (now BCS #4), and UCLA (who should have beaten ND).

Meanwhile, in their other games, they have been racking up c.35pts per game running a new offense with a questionable QB, under a new coach.

I'd say they are an 'inspired' team, wouldn't we all agree? If not for some bad breaks, they'd probably have beaten Houston and be 5-4 now...

I'd say their 4-5 against 3 BCS teams is much better than our 5-4 against 1 BCS team plus a Div-1-AA win (Essentially, we are 4-4 and they are 5-4)

Everyone needs to grow up and realize we could lose everyone of the next three games.

aTm is not bad. They are BCS ranked, computer ranked, and poll ranked.

Likewise, everyone needs to grow up and realize SMU can win every one of the next three games.

As an aside, I like how nobody has mentioned in this thread that if a UAB linebacker didn't have the IQ of a houseplant that Rice would have lost that game.

I'm beginning to wonder if anyone except maybe 2 or 3 people on this board know anything at all about college sports.
