I was there sitting about 15 rows behind the SMU bench where Cougar High fans were whooppin' it up thinking that they were just hot stuff with their 1,000 yards of total offense. THEY WERE PLAYING US!!

Ware played the first half. Klingler played the second half. Manny Hazard running all over the dome. Chuck Weatherspoon.

Worst of all, I can remember that irritating air-raid siren going off over and over and over again. I remember our players talked about that in preparation for the 1992 game.

Years later, I talked to Andre Ware and asked him what was gained by that game. He said he told the SMU DBs they should have been playing zone coverage instead of man.

Like that would have mattered.

What was great was the following week. We beat UNT. Cougar High lost at A&M. Remember when LB Aaron Wallace hit Ware so hard, he knocked Ware's helmet off and held it up to the crowd. Kyle Field went nuts. One of the few times, I supported the Gaggies.

95-21 will never be forgotten.

I was there, and I have hated Kitty Kat High ever since, and everything about that place. That game was the most blatant example of no class or understanding of sportsmanship in the history of sports. To beat on a team of kids like that .... the UH coaches should have been fired for that display.

I remember that day...Even our mascot put on Everready Battery gear:

"It just keeps going, and going, and going, and going, and going..."

Your admin should have been fired for putting that team on the field. Should have waited till they were Sophs....or better yet fielded a team of mostly transfers instead of freshman.

Not our fault you guys got caugh cheating. Twice. Not our fault SMU became the first program to get the death penalty. Nor was it our backup players fault.

I remember after that when ya'll played Notre Dame and their coach, watshs hish name-sh, ordered his guys to not score on you...in some foolish show of warped respect. So guys were running out of bounds/taking a dive with an open run to the endzone...that way your lil ones wouldn't be embarrassed by the score.

That must have been far more insulting...Having an opponent quit for you...

I was there with the Hub of SMU spirit in a mostly empty Astrodome. My main memory from that day was from the first half when Ware faked the handoff and stood back in the pocket with the ball hidden on his hip for what seemed like 5 seconds. I was watching that particular play on the video board and could not yell "PASS" loud enough as the camera was trained on Ware and the "hidden" ball. He then chunked it down to an uncovered Cougar to extend the first-half slaughter.

Still like the game ball from Jerry Glanville to Forrest Gregg after the Falcons hammered the Oilers in Pardee's debut as Oiler's coach in '90.

Give us credit where credit is due. We got caught cheatng many more times than twice.

Loved the pron film Jenkins inserted into the film sessions for his players. Now, that is the proper way to run your prorgram. Was there anyone more sleezy than him?

I've heard that when you walk to class at Cougar High, you need to wear a bullet-proof vest and face shield, lest the deal goes down. Nice that the campus is in the Watts part of the city.

It is even better, the place was built on a swamp. When it rains, it floods.

I didn't get here until 1991, but I was at the Dome that year. 5:30 hour game. 49-20. Ponies didn't have positive cumulative yardage until mid-2nd. Absolutely miserable.

And that "AIR RAID" siren....they played it on all 7 seven of their touchdowns, six of which were scored on the ground....Dumb [deleted]$$es...

All of which, made 1992 the best game ever. I smile ever time I think of the rain of red plastic footballs pouring on Klingler's head after he threw his 4th interception, sealing the game.

I found a red plastic football given to me at a Spring game. I am thinking of bringing it. Just in case.

I was in Wichita Falls in 1992 and couldn't attend. Didn't hear about the red footballs.

And their band's Tuba section would play the Dragnet theme after the fight song.

And while we're on the subject of pron, the fact that Jenkins even put it in the film and the Cougar High fan/alum is attempting to defend or downplay it is ridiculous. Seedy.

Don't act like you guys are free and clear from the cheating of the 1980s because you weren't. There was a time in SWC that every school was on probation except Rice and Arkansas.
