TV COVERAGE??? Someone smarter than me needs to explain...

Postby Jeffrey Lebowski » Fri Nov 10, 2006 11:22 am

My previous post this morning touched on this, but I cannot understand why SMU games are not shown regionally...ESPECIALLY when they are playing other prominent schools in the state like UH. I am gonna be stuck in the armpit that is Houston this weekend while my season tickets burn a hole in my pocket and I can't even see the game on TV...argh.

Can someone please explain to me why these games don't get televised? I am sure I will be able to flip on the TV on Saturday at 2:00 and find some of the most worthless crap imaginable being shown...Surely the SMU/UH games would get more viewers that the other crap that is being shown at 2:00 on a Saturday...so wouldn't stations want to cover it? Is it a contracting issue? An advertising issue? Someone please help me understand. I am so f-ing irritated that I am missing this game.
Let me explain something to you. I am not "Mr. Lebowski". You're Mr. Lebowski. I'm the Dude. So that's what you call me.

As I understand it, CSTV owns the rights to all C-USA games, so you'd have to get it cleared first. Then, if CSTV doesn't pick it up, it costs about $50K to air a game. That said, you can watch tomorrow's game online through SMU All-Access.

It's not bad. It's not TV, but I personally don't have any problems seeing exactly what's going on. I'm very thankful for it when just a couple years ago we had no way to watch our games at all save for the occasional Fox Sports SW game.

if you get the computer CSTV package make sure you get registered well before the game and try it out before the game because you may have some issues to resolve to best configure your computer to some of the requirements of the website.
