Distinguished Alumni Awards

Those of you in attendance last night know all of the alums honored were wonderful, but in particular how gracious and humble Jerry LeVias was when he talked about his experiences on the Hilltop. Obviously he was very appreciative of Hayden Fry and Harold Jesky for their courage and friendship. He gave special props to the Mustang Band for always being there for him when he was in Dallas. I was honored to shake his hand and tell him how much I thought he meant to SMU after the ceremony.

For you lawyer types, he jokingly asked for our business at the beginning of his acceptance speech, as he now runs his own court reporting firm. Keep him in mind for your next depo, he can be reached through the alumni office.

I too was honored to shake the hand of this amazing person who dealt with tons of adversity but kept fighting through it with pride and grace. I believe he should be in one of the vehicles during the Homecoming Parade on Sat so keep an eye out for him.
