Seriously. I give up again. I came home, ripped off my SMU shirt and threw it out of sight. I don't want to [deleted] talk about it.. I don't have the patience or the heart for this anymore.

I feel his pain. I was high as a kite heading into the half, then all of a sudden, the Defense went to sleep and cost us the game.

Wrong, the offense got conservative, and there you have it.

You nailed it!! Bennett gets a 10 point lead and plays not to lose. Bennett has taken this team as far as he is going to. We need to move on.

What ever Wwhiteman. Take your redneck white dusters and cowboy hats (seriously those are hideous) and return to houston. Thank God we get to stay here.

I said it in a previous thread that we run the most conservative spread in cfb. We seem to never go for the "kill" or try and shut the door on their opponent. PB and Burns did not call the best plays. Maybe a new coach will try to shut the door on teams we play. I'm sad for our team and for the program in general.

How about Carrington's lack of ability to make tackles all day...definately not something you want to see from your linebacker. He had several missed tackles all day, but I wanted to yell in his face when he blew the potential safety on 3rd and 19 from the Houston High 1yrd line. Seriously had two hands on him and couldn't bring him down. When someone is playing that poorly I think you have to go to your other options at the position. A safety there wins us the game.

I SMU 76 did exactly the same thing in the fourth grade when UT beat
us.
Told my SMU 50 DAD I was a UT fan now

There's a lot of blame to go around here, but I think number 1 was the defense. We just couldnt stop Aldridge, it was like a legitmate D1 player playing vs. high school kids. Our D is built on speed, but we just couldnt catch up to him running outside, took bad angles, missed tackles. Our pass D (especially the front four) was outstanding, what a tough tough pill to swallow

Our defense was weak against their run, yes, but we were up by 10. Why did we change game plans to a conservative offense when we were obviously having trouble with the D? If you can't keep them from scoring, you have to keep scoring.
And why do we try to run to the outside on every 4th down? I'd rather see Willis try to do something with it - he's dual threat.

Fact is, we got both of our first team defensive tackles hurt in the first half and at the half Houston decided to come out in the second half and run the ball. It worked..... We are a different defense with Haywood and Bonds hurt.....Houston had 3rd and 19 half way through the fourth quarter from their one yard line. They completed a 20 yard pass and that was huge as they went on to score a go ahead touchdown on that drive. Mapp's fumble or our next drive and the game was over. I still think we would have won if our DT's were not hurt.

Once again, the offense went Amish and didn't protect our 10 point lead, which quickly turned into a 10 point deficit. Morstead is a badass kicker, but we couldn't keep him off the field last night. It's almost as if our offense sees the 35 yd line and doesn't try anymore. 1 and 10 on the 30 and we quench the offense. Makes no sense.

Everyone blames the defense but it was poor offense playcalling that led to 3 and outs causing the defense to be on the field the whole second half.
