Alright, heres the thing. This sat., if we win, according to Straight35 the New Orleans Bowl will take us because we can finish no worse than 6-6. Thats huge, and Tulsa is a good team. But after lasts weeks fiasco, I am not so sure I can take another loss like that. But things got interesting. Airing a half hour after kickoff of our game, is the Ohio State/Michigan game.....1 vs. 2.....the biggest game of the regular season. Convince me to go and watch SMU play or see perhaps the game of the millenium. Someone convince me to go! I am really tempted to go home and catch "The Game"

I wouldn't make reservations for the NO Bowl at 6-5...Rice and UTep could both finish 7-5 and we'd be sitting on 6-6.

Then we'd have to take S. Miss' slot (if they end 6-6) - I think they'd rather have Smiss fans who will travel better.

* Look at your screen name -- 'nuff said.

* The Ohio State/Michigan game will be replayed and broken down ad nauseum.

* That's what TiVo and VCRs are for.

* Every year there's a "biggest game since the start of time." Rarely is there one that merits such attention, but the networks require their mouthpieces/announcers to overhype it. That is how Brent Musberger is still employed.

* By the time the weekend rolls around, Big10PonyFan is going to beat us to death with so much useless trivia about that overhyped conference, you're going to want to kill ever wolverine, wildcat, spartan (?), gopher, badger, hawkeye, etc., that you can find and beat the bejeezus out of him with them. (Sorry, B10PF -- that slipped.)

This one is easy.

What does Ohio State and or Michigan mean to us?

They are not in our conference
They are not in a conference of even regional interest
They are not in our state
They are not current or near future opponents
They will not be in any bowl that effects SMU
They are on TV and you will not see the action in person
You will miss the boulevard
You can catch the second half of "the game" after the SMU victory

YOU SHOULD AND WILL ATTEND THE SMU/TULSA GAME!

OK folks for about the 5th time-CUSA Bowls are contractually required to take all 7 win teams over 6 win teams. Tulsa and UH have already qualified. ECU and Southern Miss need just one victory and a favorable schedule. UTEP needs 2 victories and a favorable schedule. Unless a 6th bowl is found out there-not likely in this year of 6-6 bowl teams-SMU would be shut out of any bowl possibility and especially the New Orleans Bowl at 6-6. SMU to go bowling is very likely going to need to win out. Maybe our best chance is if ECU loses both games against Rice and NCSU but they are rolling with a 4 game winning streak.

I would have the most reason to NOT go watch us play and stay home and watch "The best game ever played since football was invented in 1869.''

At 2 p.m. on Saturday, I will be at Ford Stadium watching SMU vs. Tulsa.

I love the Big 10. I love SMU more.

BTW I just don't see CUSA getting a 6th bowl because the 6-6 rule has opened up so many more teams qualifying for bowls. Saw a report that said there are 64 bowl slots. 55 have already qualified. 29 more could qualified. Too many mediocre 6-6 teams chasing too few remaining bowl spots this year.

Get a new cell phone that uses the new EVDo networks. Sprint, Verizon, and T-Mobile all have the networks that support it. Then buy a good phone or switch to a phone that runs Windows Smartphone or Pocket PC. Then get a Slingbox. Everyone needs to get one of these anyways. http://us.slingmedia.com/page/slingplayermobile.html That way you can watch the game on your phone and still be at the SMU game. The other option is buying a ticket and sitting in the Club level.

I wouldn't exactly call Marshall favorable for UTEP. UTEP's defense is terrible. I would bet that UTEP finishes 6-6, splitting their last two games.

pf84: I'll be at the SMU v Tulsa game. So will raplh. If you don't go, you're going to miss our duet version of Mustang Sally with The PitPops on The Boulevard. That's a once-in-a-lifetime event that you don't want to miss!

But seriously, folks...it's the last home game of the 2006 SMU football season. BE THERE TO SUPPORT THE MUSTANGS! I'm foregoing a trip to Huntsville to see SHSU v TSU-SM (in a game that has playoff implications for the Bearkats!) to stay in Dallas to see the Mustangs BLOW OUT the Golden Hurricane!

And wasn't the U.T. v Ohio State game earlier this year touted as 'the game of the millenium' or 'the game of the year' or some other b.s.?

Alright I am gonna go to the game. Thanks guys! Is it sad I hope we're losing at the half so I don't fret about blowing a lead again? Haha, Go Mustangs!

Oh, and you guys are right, the other game probably won't be worth the hype, and it will be replayed all day and all night.

BTW I saw a UH Fan post that they have been behind-sometimes significantly- in all but 1 of the victories this year. That's how you win championships overcoming obstacles not complaining about lost opportunities.

I'll be at the SMU-TU game mainly because there's nowhere else I'd rather be. Following that I'll be at the SMU-Dayton game because it's free.

Go Mustangs! Beat FSU! Now that I have officially given us the curse for FSU I feel much better.
