Positive thoughts

Think in your mind what it would be like if SMU beat North Texas State, UTEP, and Houston this year. How big of a crowd would we be expecting for the Tulsa game? We'd probably be discussing the Liberty Bowl right now. Just imagine how exciting the Tulsa game would be this weekend.

You should retitle this thread to one of the following:

1. Pipe Dreams

2. If my aunt had a d_ck she'd be my uncle.

I believe we said that last year with the loss to Marshall and to Baylor and to ECU and the shocking loss to Tulane and another close one to Tulsa. The "what ifs" have been said for the past 2 years now.

I am not at all sure how you consider those thoughts to be positive given the reality of the situation.

Doesn't "Miller Lite Man Law" say that if your team has a losing season this year, you can lable the year as a "rebuilding" year?

How many years does it take to rebuild an Edsel into a Viper?

Commercials for bad beer are not admissible.
Neither is the word "lable."

I have to agree. The commercials are good but the beer is the worst that can be purchased.

Thank you for deleting the other post.

I'd be ok with rebuilding a Mustang into a Cougar.

I would like to see any of you do better than PB. Do I have some things that Iwish his staff did better. YEP. Aggressive play calling is the first item on the list.

I hope we win out and he stays 10 years with SMU being a annual bowl team.

That's a ridicuous statement and you're better than that. None of us are college football coaches.

However, we are all close observers of this program and we can deduce from our obsevations that this coach in five years has not had a winning season, although he has had the worst season in SMU history. Also, he has not excelled at developing what talent he has been able to recruit, as evidenced from the record, and the attendance has likely come to a twenty year low during his regime.

No I cannot do better than Bennett, but that does not mean I can't opine that he has not done all that well.

I didn't bring up PB in this thread and I think only the last poster did, so really I am speaking on his/her behalf instead of my own here. It does not matter whether he can do a better job than PB. People who claim PB does a crappy job aren't asking to nominate themselves as a replacement. They are saying that they think he does a sh_tty job, but in no way does that imply that they think they would do better.

For goodness sakes he is paid a lot of money to be a head football coach. I would hope he could do a better job than any guy screwing around at work complaining about their favorite football team could and HE DOES. The point is some people think there are other people, who coach football for a living, that could do a much better job.

I don't think Bennett should/will be evaluated until the end of the season, then we will see if we think he will be here for 10 years or 10 days. If he wins his final 2, he is for sure staying. If we finish 6-6, I am thinking he has a good chance of getting run. If he loses out, well, thats pretty obvious what will happen there.

Cheers to your post, jt. I was thinking the same thing. (Sorry I couldn't figure out a way to work in Burgers into the natural flow of my message.)

I get upset when this kind of talk goes on IN SEASON.

Save it for 3 weeks.
