SMU FANS ON THE BLVD....TAKE 5 MINS THIS SAT AND.....

Postby Special_Delivery_Smu_Fans » Thu Nov 16, 2006 9:26 am

The CALL TO ARMS:

"MUSTANG MARCH"

MANY OF YOU ALREADY KNOW, BUT SOME MAY NOT BE AWARE
THAT BEFORE EACH HOME GAME THE SMU FOOTBALL TEAM
HAS A PRE-GAME PRAYER SERVICE AT PERKINS CHAPEL.

AFTER THE PRAYER SERVICE THE SMU PLAYERS/COACHES
EXIT THE CHAPEL AND WALK TO THE STADIUM. AS THEY
EXIT PERKINS CHAPEL SMU CHEER SQUADS AND FANS
GREET THE PLAYERS/COACHES AND CHEER THEM ON.

THE SMU PLAYERS, COACHES, AND PARENTS HAVE LET IT
BE KNOWN THAT THEY REALLY APPRECIATE THE FANS THAT
GREET THEM AS THEY EXIT THE CHAPEL BEFORE EACH HOME GAME.

SINCE THIS IS THE LAST HOME GAME LETS ALL SHOW UP
TO GIVE OUR PLAYERS A MORAL SUPPORT PRE-GAME
BOOST AND LET THEM KNOW WE ARE BEHIND THEM!

BECAUSE PERKINS CHAPEL IS HAVING SOME
RENOVATIONS DONE THIS WEEK THE PRAYER
SERVICE WILL BE AT THE SELECMAN BLDG.
JUST SOUTH OF PERKINS CHAPEL.

EVERY MUSTANG FAN NEEDS TO BE AT THE
SELECMAN BUILDING JUST SOUTH OF PERKINS CHAPEL
BY 11:20AM THIS SATURDAY.

LETS ALL GIVE 5 MINUTES "TO THE CAUSE".

BRING NOISEMAKERS, SIGNS, COWBELLS AND YOUR
LOUDEST MUSTANG VOICE

WE WILL CHEER FOR THE TEAM AND COACHES AS THEY EXIT
SELECMAN ABOUT 11:30AM (TEMPORARY LOCATION FOR THEIR
PRE-GAME INVOCATION WHILE PERKINS IS REMODELING)

WE WILL FALL IN BEHIND THE TEAM AND ESCORT THEM
ALL THE WAY TO FORD STADIUM.

THEN RETURN BACK TO TAIL GATE ACTIVITIES ON THE BLVD.

GO MUSTANGS!

Most schools already do something like this, I know we have tried to do this before, without much of a push. I will give it a try, I am desperate to win!

I think it's about 25 yards south of Perkins.

re: Where's Selecman Hall?

Basically it is near the main south
entrance to the BLVD on the west side.

Selecman Hall is south of Perkins Chapel.

11:20AM Sat - Be There! :D

I have been doing this all season. It's pretty cool, the players seem glad to see us, and they usually high five folks as they walk by. Hey, if this helps in even the smallest way, why not? GO MUSTANGS!!!

I tried this several weeks ago and people actually came down to cheer the team on .. problem was.. the team came out of the service about 20 mins late.. so what crowd was there left to go back to their tent.. I love the ideas but don't get your hopes up and hopefully 11:20 is accurate.. I will be there

According to Gary Hyatt, Dir. of Football Operations, the team should exit Selecman about 11:30am. I am Ben Poynter's Dad and I can tell you that there will be a large group of parents and friends participating in the MUSTANG MARCH!

There is a 1/2 page ad in the SMU Daily Campus today asking students and faculty to join the March. I am asking all of you faithful readers/contributors of PonyFans to please make the short walk down to Selecman then join in behind the players/coaches on the MUSTANG MARCH to Ford Stadium. THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR SUPPORT! GO MUSTANGS!
Best Regards,
Jim

I think this is a great thing, but I must suggest that the team set a specific path that they take from Perkins (I know its different this time), and stick with it - that way people know where to go.

It has worked pretty well so far this season, except for the first game, when the team just took off across the middle of the Blvd. where there was no sidewalk. Since then, they have followed the same path.

Its been fun b/c our tent is right on that path, and I have played the fightsong over our stereo as they walk by. See you guys tomorrow.
