6-6 this year is no better than 5-6 of last year (subtract the 1-AA victory).
In fact, it is worse...
We substituted 2 Big12 teams last year with 2 SunBelt teams this year.
Results? No better. 1-2 Out of Conference (and add the 1-AA win for 2-2).
woop.
Let's make the change now...we've gotten no traction on recruiting, and we play Baylor, Tech, and TCU next year...
...why wait for us to go 1-3 next year OOC and then 4-4 confernce (maybe) for a 5-7 record yet again (if we're lucky).
How well will we recruit then?

I agree let's run him out of town. I hope East Carolina beats the hell out of N.C. State ....we don't deserve a bowl game with our 6-6 record against a crap schedule.

Minor Coaching decisions that affected this game:
Playing Bryan McCann - fumbles on opening kickoff (of course, Rice didn't score, but we were still in a hole) and out of position as a DB...a known risk starting a true freshman
1st and goal TWICE from the 1 yard line...and they hand off deep in the backfield. horrible play calling.

IT only gets worse from here...most likely no bowl, recruiting drops drastically, a hard schedule next year and w/ a lot of key defenders on an already weak D next year, its not looking good.

What about the last play of the game? Need 9 yards to pick up a first down, and the ball is thrown 40 yards to the goal line.

Turning point of the game....not scoring from the ONE FREAKING YARD LINE! IF we scored, it'd be 31-31 and we'd be driving for the game winning FG. Less pressure to move the ball.
How about Coker?

Not Charlie Waters! A real coach!!! Someone who has won on a Major Division 1 level and looking for a second chance. We can't afford anymore experiments!! I can't even contemplate having to wait out another newbie coaching experiment!

Check the radar range. CW is an accomplished D-Coordinator and Head Coach at the college level.
My question of him is simply that he has been out of coaching for a while, and second, that HS kids won't know him from Phil Bennett...

Coaker is a good name. He finished on a bad note in Miami but he is competing against the best. When you're competing on that level there are going to be cycles and he as well as Bowden are in a down cycle. Doesn't mean they are bad coaches. Bowden will be given time to ride out the bad wave and Coaker wasn't. Coaker could win at SMU.
