Bennett won't speak to the Ticket

Postby RE Tycoon » Sat Nov 25, 2006 6:07 pm

Using his shoulder as an excuse. I hope Bennett isn't in too much pain and I wish him a speedy recovery, but to not do his post game talk is [deleted]. He owes us at least that.

This firing will really hurt him. Do hope he gets better physically. Still a good guy, just not a great coach.

No doubt he is a great guy, I wish he was the one that turned us around. But five years of questionable play calling and downright stupid play calling at times, he needs to move on. He had the five years he claimed he needed and the schedule he wanted and this team arguably did worse than last year.

I hope ECU wins because we don't deserve a bowl game at 6-6, no team does. I'll be there if we get one, but it will be a hollow feeling.

Give the offense credit. They showed beyond a shadow of a doubt that they did not want to win this game.

The O-Line hasn't show anything all year! I don't want to down our players but we need to recruit some linemen who can run block. The big runs we got today looked to be improvised by Martin after seeing that the planned hole was closed.

As much as his back has bothered him before the game, I'm surprised that he even stayed on the sideline after that hit. I'm as upset as anyone about the loss, but he gets a hall pass on that one.

I disagree. I was fairly pleased with the O-Line on running downs, and not too mad about the pass protection. Willis has to learn to release the ball faster, get through his reads, and not to panic when #17 isn't on the field.

What do you think he's going to say? I promise, whatever it would've been, no one would be satisfied with it.

I was right there when he got hit and even I cringed. His head banged onto the ground and the player hit him square in the upper chest. Made an awful sound.

How can you go through progressions when you're immediately scrambling for your life. I'm sorry but just about every passing play the pass protection broke down quickly. How can you not be upset with the run blocking? Especially at the goal line the O-line got no push and wasn't able to open even a sliver to run through.

It's not just the O-line's fault though. We were far from sharp on special teams and gave Rice great field position especially in the first quarter.

The two keys to look at for SMU are third down conversion percentage and red zone efficiency. You don't win many games going 2-14 on third downs and only coming away with 6 points when you have the ball on 2 separate posessions at the one yard line.

The hardest part for me was watching Martin run around the end for the game-clinching first down, me going nuts, and then hearing that a holding call was nullifying the play. Talk about a roller coaster of emotions, I still can't believe that if that ref would have kept the flag in his pocket, the Ponies would have won.
Here's to those that wish us well and all the rest can go to hell!!!

Give the guy a break-- they took him straight to the hospital AFTER the game.

Some of the bitchers on this board would have been in a fetal position screamin for their mother if they had taken that hit.

Justin Willis has had a great year-let's get that out of the way BUT in the last 3 games especially since Sanders went down he is just struggling to find his receivers-that tells you another spot that needs BIG improvement next year. The receivers. But let's be honest Justin has had enough time to pass but just hasn't been able to locate an open receiver.
