Are we pulling another Cavan? I know it has been 5 years but maybe he can shake up his staff, get a quarterbacks coach. Seems like he has a decent recruiting class so far.
Fire away Stallion.

I am sorry, I am just not that impressed with Willis. Yes he is young, but he should have had a coach working on him to get rid of the ball and not try to force plays. When he is a Junior he will be great.

Starting today Orsini starts earning his pay. Keep Bennett or not, some heavy duty decisions need to be made. I have been impressed with the BB hire, the marketing hire and now want to be impressed with his decision on the football team. I am not anti Bennett in any way and think we could continue to move in a positve direction but there well may be something better out there. Go luck Mr. Orsini. Show us what you have got. And please do not get any ideas from those of us on ponyfans that think we know more than you.

Mrydel, I bet if you put the football minds of all 28 of us on here together, you'd have a pretty good special teams coach.

What if we spent the money to give Phil some good assistant coaches. It seems that Rusty Burns is good at recruiting, lets get a qb coach and everything else we need

Of course it would only take one of us to out total what we have now. But I will say, our special teams were an area of improvement this year.

why would you keep trashing the only SMU coach in 17 years to finish with a winning record. I'm not sure what to do with Bennett but I damn sure know he had it a helluva of lot easier than Cavan. SMU truly had its head up its [deleted] during his tenure.

Hence why I asked your opinion. You are the recruiting guru, will us firing him get rid of good recruits?

2 things:
What recruits are you worried about losing? Ganaway? There isn't any others worth mentioning.
6-6 with the schedule this year, Bennett had to have a winning record to save his job. At least 3 gimmees so he really went 3-6 against low level div 1A competition.

Ok, but will Orsini be able to make a huge hire?

Just out of curiosity Stallion, Whose players did Cavan coach to a winning record???? Not his own, but rather Rossley's leftovers.

I've decided to continue my tradition of refusing to call for the dismissal of any coach who is not given a full deck at the time of his hiring. I think I'm the only person on this board who has never called for the dismissal of any coach. If Bennett is fired my first early choice would be Gary Gibbs. The guy deserves a second head coaching job-he never really had a chance at OU due to the fact he was coaching during a severe NCAA probation.

My only complaint with Phil is that he shook my hand and said we would beat NTSU. After the long drive home I say we give him one more year and the staff he needs to win.

What advantage does Graham have, Stallion? I honestly don't know. And please don't just give some generic, general "unlevel playing field" answer, unless that's all you've got. I just don't get it

the statue gary gibbs? are you kidding me? the guy is a horrible head coach and has absolutely no personality. That would be a horrible mistake, why not just hire John Blake
